LOCATION: Millville, CA
ACCOMMODATIONS: Drive out from Redding. Hunt is about 4 hours long, evening and morning hunt.
SPECIAL NOTE: Practice shooting from 50 to 100 yards but sight in your rifle at 50 yards. No minimum age limit but the hunter needs to be a proficient shooter. Smaller shooters need shorter stocks to fit them well. Most calibers will work but we have great success with 243 Win and 300 Blackout. If you don’t have a suitable rifle, then we have loaners to use. Hunting close is exciting. Our average shot is only about 50 yards, but these Eurasian hogs are tough and require a well-placed shot to cleanly anchor them. Non-lead bullets are required in CA and work well. Barnes, Hornady and others are offering non-lead ammo. Our hunts are limited to a single hunter who may take one hog. Please be aware that hunting includes inherent dangers concerning wild animals, snakes, rocky terrain, and heat. Besides the hunter and parent or guardian, at least one party member needs to be capable of dragging a large animal. Our hunts have a very high success rate, and we usually get a shot. The average size of our hogs is 100-150 lbs. Only designated animals may be shot. After the kill the hunter will experience the fun of dragging out a carcass, plus gutting and skinning. This is a great time for the parent or mentor to teach the new hunter these skills but, if needed, we are happy to teach. Once cleaned, the carcass is packed in ice to preserve it till you get it home or to the butcher of your choice. Besides leaving with an awesome hunt experience you will have a great story to share around the table while enjoying the most delicious pork chops.
WHAT TO BRING: Positive attitude, rifle sighted in at 50 yards with non-lead ammunition, a good sharp knife, sturdy boots, camera or cell phone, large ice chest (165 qtrs. recommended), or a couple of medium size chests will do if the animal is quartered. Hunts usually start at 3:00 PM and we are usually back in town by 10:00 PM.
VALUE: $1,300
