North America’s premier Dall’s sheep hunt is set in western Yukon’s pristine ‘Kluane’ country and is surrounded by spectacular mountains and vast wilderness. This could be your exclusive opportunity for a magnificent Dall’s sheep. The Kluane First Nation (KFN) is proud to bring back the 2014 Kluane Dall’s Sheep Permit to the Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF). We are especially excited to announce respected outfitter David Dickson of Dickson Outfitters Ltd. and crew as the contracted qualified outfitter and guide services to deliver a spectacular sheep hunt in the Kluane Game Sanctuary. The successful bidder will be awarded one non-resident Dall’s sheep permit to hunt in the specified area of 990 sq. kilometres of premier sheep country. This special sheep permit has been allocated in KFN’s Land Claim’s agreement. The intent of the exclusive sheep hunt is to grant a guiding permit to a qualified Yukon outfitter and offer the hunt to a select group of world class sheep hunters. What better place to do that than in partnership with WSF at their annual convention. Dickson Outfitters is a very well-known company and established name in the territory. David owns and operates as a 3rd generation outfitter of his own Yukon based company. David’s outfit was established over 100 years ago by his grandfather Thomas Dickson. David continues to live and operate year round successfully in the neighboring area with the same integrity and respect for the land and its wildlife. Dickson Outfitters has the proven experience to offer high end quality guided sheep hunts. The Dickson crew have many combined years of sheep hunting experience and are dedicated and committed to the success of this hunt. David knows the sheep and the area very well and is very pleased to offer his professional services. In addition, the Dickson’s will have all their own supplies, horses, equipment and most importantly of all will have been throughout the area preparing prior to start of the hunt. Many exciting adventures rich with history and hunting await the successful hunter. Dickson Outfitters successfully guided this hunt in 2014 and harvested a beautiful Ram that had a horn length of 41.5 inches and scored 169 1/8 points.
The special hunt permit will be a 10-day horseback hunt July 20 – 30, 2015. All necessary forms and logistic arrangements will be communicated, completed in advance of the hunt. Permit rules and regulations are set by the Yukon Government’s Department of Environment and Kluane First Nation and will be adhered to by Dickson Outfitters and the successful bidder. The permit is not transferable to any other person or entity and is non-refundable. The purchaser is responsible for airfare travel to and from Whitehorse, Yukon, hotels, meals, incidentals prior to and after hunt in Whitehorse, gratuity, all taxidermy costs including shipping from Yukon, trophy fee’s after hunt to government ($263.00). A non-hunter is not included but the price can be negotiated with the outfitter. A percentage of the overall sale price of the permit will go back to KFN for the purpose(s) of conservation to support projects and activities for wildlife and wildlife habitat in the KFN’s Traditional Territory as outlined in KFN’s Final Agreement. David, his children and many relatives are from KFN and have a vested interest in the region and are willing to continue to develop and offer wildlife management assistance and ideas to support conservation initiatives for KFN. With continued efforts programs will evolve and benefits will be seen in wildlife populations in the area. Furthermore, 10% of the purchase price will go to WSF to cover reasonable expenses incurred with this permit. Owner of Dickson Outfitters and representation from Kluane First Nation will be available anytime during the convention to provide more details and information regarding this permit hunt. Interested parties are encouraged to stop by booth #803 to introduce yourself, ask questions, have a visit and hear about sheep hunting. We look forward to meeting you and hopefully guiding you in the unbelievable ‘Kluane’ country.
